The Wellbeing Farm is a fun, quirky and magical wedding and events venue. They also have their own cookery school to educate people about creating meals with quality, local ingredients.
With an emphasis on being as environmentally friendly as they could be, the team were already doing a lot to reduce their waste, including swapping black bags for clear bags to avoid the ‘out of sight, out of mind’ situation, growing some of their own food to reduce packaging and supporting suppliers who use minimal packaging.
The team saw Zero Waste Week as a great opportunity to continue their drive towards sustainability.
During the week, landfill bins in the café were banned and they worked hard to substantially increase the amount of items which were recycled and composted in order to reduce landfill waste.
One month later…
During August, Celia and her team took a waste audit in their cookery school and restaurant ready to implement changes during Zero Waste Week. Having done the audit, they no longer have bins for general waste in their café – just recycling and compost bins. They have reduced their black bin use from 6 black sacks over a weekend to half a bag.
