Inspired by The Frugal Girl, every week I take part in Food Waste Friday where post up photos of food I’m wasting.
This is usually because it’s gone off before I’ve been able to use it up.
I’m passionate about reducing food waste for many reasons, most notably, it’s believed global food waste could feed every starving child, woman and man three times over. So I want to be part of the solution, not part of the problem.
This week Mr Green tried to save me from food waste, but failed, due to my own procrastination.
I ended up with some of these beauties heading to the compost bin.
I LOVE cherries and eat them most mornings when they are in season. I either chop them into yogurt or add them to a smoothie.
Alas, I fell for the BOGOF offer in my local store and ended up with waste.
This week I’ve bought just enough cherries for my needs and in future I will freeze them because they can be added to a smoothie straight from the freezer.
I managed to salvage some of the cherries, but only a few out of the entire punnet.
What about you – did you create any food waste this week?
