The 10 minute show you care challenge

The Day 5 Challenge - Caring and Sharing

The Friday Feedback Challenge!

What we’d like you to do today is to look back at the ways you’ve reduced your food waste and tell us about them.

Have you saved some food from becoming waste? Have you cut down the amount of money you’ve spent on food? Have you found some new things that will help you waste less in the future. Today, we want feedback. Show the world you care about reducing food waste. The more people see other people caring and sharing to reduce food waste, the more they are likely to join in. So, share with us what you’ve done to make a difference!

Have found your work interesting and heart-warming Anna.
Having been born before WW2, I am hard-wired not to waste anything. I have a weekly menu and shop weekly. As a result, no food is wasted in my house: what I don’t eat goes to the cat and if she won’t eat it, it goes to the local wildlife. During the war, any leftover food was collected for pig swill.
As for material things – including clothes – if you didn’t need it you didn’t buy it. If you wanted a treat but couldn’t afford it, you saved up until you could buy it . Household items did not have built-in obsolescence in those days and whenever possible you repaired items.
Keep up your excellent work – especially with schools…so important. I’m afraid I’m of an age where I can no longer be proactive, but I do my bit for the planet in whatever way I can, especially regarding recyling and plastic waste (don’t get me started on that!!)
I think it’s down to every single one of us – regardless of our situation – to do our bit!

Thank you for your kind words, Annie. I am a firm believer that we need to step back occasionally and learn from the past. You would probably enjoy my book Leftover Pie, but, you don’t need to read it for the reducing food waste part – You do that already!

Love this idea! I am pleased to have started a business to help others make zero waste household swaps. On a more personal level, I’m really happy to have my vegan/vegetarian anniversary last month.
