Today we’re monkeying around with bananas. They go off so quickly that they are one of our top wasted food.

But when you stop to think of the embedded energy from water, transportation, cold storage and packaging it seems a crime to let them rot.

Especially when there are so many delicious things you can do with them!

Hands up for banana cake!

We’ve shared loads of leftover bananas recipes on the zero waste week website. Check out:

10 amazing bananas recipes

3 simple bananas recipes

2 super duper simple bananas recipes

And my yummy ‘go to’ instant banana pudding recipe

If that doesn’t sort you out, I don’t know what will!

Meanwhile, back in the kitchen we’re looking at careful food storage.

Now you’ve cleared out the offenders from your fridge it’s time for a thorough clean. While you are there check the seals and the temperature of the fridge. And how about a bit of reorganisation by turning your fridge upside down?

I’d love to hear your favourite ways of using up bananas before they end up as food waste!
